Dear Families,
I am excited to share with you our teaching staff for 2026, which includes a few changes from this year.
Firstly, I would like to acknowledge Mrs. Virginia Hellings, who, after 25 years of teaching at St Mary’s, is retiring from the profession. Mrs. Hellings has made a remarkable impact on our school and on the lives of so many students during her time here. Toward the end of the year, we will take the opportunity to thank her properly for her endless contributions to our community.
We are delighted to welcome back Mrs. Rebecca Sebire (formerly Miss Halley), who will return to our school teaching PE for two days and Foundation for one day. Mrs. Chloe Orchard will be teaching in a Year 1–2 classroom for four days, while continuing in her role as Sports Co-ordinator. Mrs. Charmaine Wilson will be returning to classroom teaching, sharing a Year 3–4 class with Mrs. Lyndall Holmes, and will continue her role as Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. Mrs. Jo Hart will take on the role of STEM teacher and will also teach Year 1–2 for one day. Mrs. Kathy McLean will be taking 12 months of leave to enjoy some well-deserved time with her family.

To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!

- Chloe Orchard (Sports Coordinator)
Grade 5/6 boys advanced to Traralgon for the regional basketball tournament last Thursday. They won 3 of their games and drew one other.
The highlight for the tournament was Cooper Battista hitting 3 free throws with just milliseconds remaining to clench the win, sending St Mary's to the state finals in a few weeks. It was a great day, with all of the boys playing well. I’m super proud of them. I'm looking forward to seeing them competing again and can’t wait to see how they go at the next level.
