Dear Parents
We continue to move forward with our learning at St Mary’s. Here at school the students are to be congratulated for being flexible with a range of different teachers assisting them each day. It is interesting to hear personal opinions and experiences from our students during remote school learning. We are fortunate to have a resilient young school community that has adapted working in small groups and participating in video links during the course of the term.
A big thank you to the children who were able to help in the junior garden during the week. A photo will be in this edition of the newsletter. Work continues to happen here at school with the third learning area starting to take shape. During a meeting this week with the builders we are looking to have an approximate completion date by the start of November. Brand new furniture will arrive over the next three weeks continuing the theme of colour, flexible and collaborative learning opportunities.
Information has been sent through email to new families who have a child commencing in Foundation in 2021. The letter is included in this edition of the newsletter for current families. We have had a pleasing response for next year's Foundation year which is fantastic news for the school.
On the subject of next year- before we even get there we have to plan for Term Four. What will this look like? Hopefully this weekend, Premier Daniel Andrews, will make some announcements that will involve what implications we will have here at school. As soon as this information is made available I am sure all school’s in the Sale Diocese will have some clarity and direction.
On our new website some of our policies have been updated on Child Safety. Hard copies are also on display here in the office. It is extremely important that all families are aware of these policies and understand the content so conversations as a family can happen at the home. At school we regularly speak to the children about being safe and feeling safe. This message is obviously very important and is aimed at appropriate language for each particular grade.
We wish our Fathers a happy Father’s Day on Sunday. Thank you to the Parents and Friends who organised a drive through gift collection yesterday from school.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
Jason
