I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and supported our recent Father's Day breakfast and Mass. Your presence made the event truly special and memorable. It was heartwarming to see our school community come together to celebrate and honour the important role of fathers in our lives. The smiles on children’s faces were a great indicator of success. We wish all fathers, grandfathers, step dads, carers and special people in our students' lives, a very happy Father’s Day.
I would like to thank families for their continued support when the school is closed for professional development days. These dedicated days provide our teachers and staff with invaluable opportunities to enhance their skills, explore innovative teaching strategies, and collaborate with colleagues. By investing in ongoing professional development, we are ensuring that our educators stay updated with the latest research and best practices, ultimately benefiting our students' learning experiences. Your understanding of the importance of staff development and your continued partnership in prioritising quality education is deeply appreciated. Together, we are fostering an environment of continuous growth and excellence for our school community.
Please enjoy a great weekend with your families.
Kind regards,
Julian

25th August ~ George Trewhella
Congratulations to George who is always extremely helpful with his 2 younger brothers. George is also very responsilbe and independant at home. He is a wonderful role model making sure he does the right thing for his brothers to see. George is a very considerate, fantastic big brother. With great leadership and kindness it sounds like George has the potential for fantastic things to come.
Well done George!!
25th August ~ Willow Parer
Congratulations to Willow who is very proud of herself for trying really hard with her reading and her writing at school. Willow knows she gets better by making the effort to practise every night at home. She can now read chapter books and write stories. At the moment Willow is reading 'Meet Ella' books and has begun writing her Christmas list! Very exciting!
Reading will give Willow many hours of enjoyment and who knows, we may see her name published in a book of her own one day.
Well done Willow!!
To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!
Forms can be found on the link below.
Melbourne Stars Cricket Clinic
Last Wednesday our Grade 3-6 students were lucky enough to participate in a Woolworths Blast Roadshow with the Melbourne Stars and Maffra Cricket Club.
Students participated in a range of cricket based games with Melbourne Stars professional cricket players, Rhys McKenna and Jasmine Nevins. All students thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
If you need any more information getting your child involved in cricket, please send me a DOJO message.
Wellington Athletics Carnival
Today we had 25 students represent our school at the Wellington Schools Athletics Carnival in Sale. It was a fantastic achievement to have so many of our students progress to this level of competition. Thank you to Ms Halley for assisting throughout the day. Students' results will be published in the next newsletter.
Twilight Soccer
Thank you to those who have contacted me to sign their child up to the Term 4 Twilight Soccer. The twilight competition has been running for 30 years and it is the first time our school will participate which is very exciting.
We have secured enough students to represent our school in Foundation to Grade 4. We still need a few more students to sign up for the Grade 5/6 Team. If your child is in Grade ⅚ and is interested, please send me a DOJO message ASAP.
Wow!! Thank you to all the students and parents for their efforts with costumes at our annual Book Week parade. It was wonderful to see so many parents and friends from our community come and support students during such a fun morning.
Parents and carers are urged to keep young children at home if
they are sick amid a rapid rise in outbreaks of viral gastroenteritis
in Victoria.
Viral gastroenteritis is highly infectious. Symptoms include
nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain, headache
and muscle aches, with more severe outcomes in the elderly and
very young. Symptoms can take up to three days to develop and
usually last between one or two days, sometimes longer.
Washing hands with soap and water is one of the most effective
ways of preventing the spread of infection. Alcohol-based hand
sanitisers are not effective against many common viruses that
cause gastroenteritis.
Infants or children in childcare or school, as well as staff, who
develop vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home until at
least 48 hours after their symptoms have stopped, since they will
still be infectious. If symptoms are severe or they persist, or you
are concerned, see a GP for advice and possible testing.
Please find below information found on the Victorian Government Health Department site.
