Dear families,
As we come to the end of another incredible term, I want to reflect on some of the amazing things that have taken place this term. We have had some wonderful community celebrations with our Father’s Day breakfast and Mass and Grandparents Mass and classroom visits. Both of these events had a huge turn out and the children loved having their fathers and grandparents here to celebrate.
This term has also been full of sporting events in which our students have not only had a lot of fun but have shown their remarkable skill, resilience and teamwork. We held our whole school athletics, with many students going on to compete at the district and regional levels. We also had students compete at Hooptime Basketball and had a special cricket clinic from the Melbourne Stars and Maffra Cricket Club. These events could not take place without commitment from staff and volunteers.
Lastly and most importantly I have continued to be blown away by the amazing learning that has been taking place throughout the school. The staff’s professional learning this term has been focused on writing and I have seen some truly amazing writing pieces by all levels around the school. I hope families have an opportunity to see some of the writing your children have produced, you will be as astonished as me.
I hope that everyone has the chance to spend some quality time with their families over the break and the students are ready for another great term as we draw close to the end of the year.
Kind regards,
Julian

8th September ~ Hadley Parer
Congratulations to Hadley who is very proud of herself for her tumbling efforts. Hadley has been tirelessly training and practising at home working on her tumbling because she wanted to get better. She has proven to herself and shown others how her dedication and perseverance can lead to achieving your goals and dreams.
Hadley recently competed in Melbourne for tumbling and won 3rd place. Her efforts and belief in herself allowed her confidence to grow and perform with tremedous conviction. Hadley is super proud of herself. We may see more wonderful talents from Hadley in the future.
Well done Hadley!!
8th September ~ Thomas Parer
Congratulations to Thomas for being able to do a back bend and a front hand spring. Thomas is proud of himself for two reasons. One, he achieved his goal, and two, he did not quit. He was determined to not give up and showed great persistance, resilience and tenacity to reach his end result.
Hadley helped to teach Thomas and with great listening and patience Thomas was VERY happy he stuck it out. Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of the big picture but Thomas did not disappoint himself or quit and now has a party trick up his sleeve that will put a smile on everyone's face.
Well done Thomas!!
To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!
Forms can be found on the link below.
Wellington Athletics
Congratulations to the 25 students who represented our school at the Wellington Level Athletics on Friday the 1st of September. Our students represented the school to a high standard and they should be proud of their efforts as the competition was tough. Well done to the following students who have been successful in reaching the Regional Level of Athletics which will be early next term:
Georgia Rawson
Ryder Henry
Jess Rowley
Imlay Pickalla
Johnni Bramich
Ben Murphy
Summer Domaille
Elke Horsford
Owen Crutchfield
Last year we only had 3 students make it to Regionals, so this is an amazing effort, especially for a school of our size. We wish the above students all the best at the next level.
Monday Twilight Soccer
Next term St Mary’s will have over 40 students represent our school in the Monday Twilight Soccer Competition in Sale. We ended up having a great response so hopefully in the coming years, we can enter more teams.
I will send out more information to the families involved as I am still waiting on draws and game times to be released.
If your child is playing twilight, please make sure you have completed the registration form online using the following link.
