Art With Meg
This week in art, a lady named Meg came in from the Sale Art Gallery in to show us techniques in painting, in particular water paints. At the start of the lesson she talked about people who put in art work for competitions and the process. Meg told us, that the top 50 art works go into a room, then 1 of them is the overall winner and wins about $20,000, but the art gallery gets to keep the artwork. She brought in a painting that was in the top 50 and that was her favourite. When she showed us the techniques that we can use , it was really interesting.
Then she told us what we're gonna be doing. We had a plastic rectangle piece with dish soap on it, next you had a paint brush that you dip it into the water, choose a paint colour, and paint it on the plastic. We could use as many colours as we wanted. Once you’ve done that, there is paper sitting in water and you pull it out and dry it with the newspaper on the table. You then sit the paper over the top of the plastic and press it down with a spoon. After that if you still have paint left on the plastic you can do that again, but it will turn out very different. We also did the exact same thing but with a smaller piece. Then we let it dry.
It was a fun and interesting experience with Meg and we thank her for her time.
