Dear families,
I hope that everyone enjoyed some nice time with their families over the long weekend. I managed to get away to Lakes Entrance for our first family holiday with August last week. We were very lucky to enjoy sunshine for the week and August loved the sand at the beaches we visited a little too much, trying to put it all in his mouth.
As the year begins to wind down, I want to take a moment to express how fortunate we are to educate our children in an environment that emphasises values rooted in kindness, compassion, and integrity.
Every day at St Mary’s, we strive to create a nurturing atmosphere where learning and moral development go hand in hand. As a Catholic school, our curriculum is crafted not only to promote academic excellence but also to instil principles that embody the essence of our Catholic community. Through our daily activities, prayers, and interactions, we emphasise the importance of treating others with respect and serving one another.
It is truly rewarding to see our students grow in their understanding of these values. They learn to approach challenges with a positive mindset, show kindness to their peers, and embrace the lessons of compassion in their everyday lives. This foundation prepares them not only for academic success but also success in their lives beyond school..
Please have a fantastic weekend with your families.
Kind regards,
Julian

1st November ~ Spencer Heinrich
Congratulations to Spencer who recently took on an exhilarating challenge at his first horse riding event: team penning! Partnering with his spirited pony, Cinderella, they joined forces with their teammates to skillfully herd three feisty cows into a pen. With adrenaline pumping and teamwork on full display, Spencer and Cinderella showcased their bond and determination in this thrilling equestrian sport.
Well done Spencer!!
To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!
Forms can be found on the link below.
Gratitude
Some benefits of practising gratitude are:
- After 21 days, you start to scan the world for positives.
- After 42 days you become:
- More optimistic, energised & focused.
- Less likely to get sick.
- You will sleep better.
- Anxiety and depression decreases.
A few quick and simple ways to practise being grateful are:
- Journaling; each night write down 3 things that went well for you that day or purchase a gratitude journal with gratitude prompts.
- Write a gratitude letter to someone special, telling them why you are grateful they are in your life.
- Have a family discussion on the way home from school or around the dinner table about the things that went well that day or made you smile.

Yesterday, our Foundation students had an unforgettable day out at the Melbourne Zoo. Under the bright, sunny sky, everyone was buzzing with excitement as they explored the amazing animals. The children were on their best behavior, making it a fun and memorable adventure for all. Thank you to all the staff who joined the students and made the day an enjoyable, smooth running outing!
Please join us in congratulating Mack and Darby Howard, and Lockie and Riley Gallatly, who last week received the Sacrament of Reconciliation, after recently being baptised. Mack and Lockie are also busily preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in a few weeks. What a special time for these boys and their families as they continue on their faith journey. We are so proud of you, boys.
May the Lord Bless you as you receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.
May His Mercy give you peace and His Presence ever guide you.
